Rammed Earth Workshop

                                                 Rammed Earth Workshop

Rammed earth training courses being offered over the summer of 2016.  Learn to build with what mother nature provides.

We are a husband and wife team working towards our dream home.  We have been building rammed earth structures on our property for the last three years, starting with driveway markers, an animal shelter and last summer we completed half of our house walls.  We have gained knowledge through extensive research and hands on courses.  Please feel free to have a look at our blog chronicling our progress.

We have one more summer to finish our walls and want to make sure we give anyone interested the opportunity to learn rammed earth in an applicable way.  Rammed earth is cost effective, beautiful and will last many lifetimes over, nothing compares to the feeling of being surrounded by these magnificent walls.

Come and join us in building a rammed earth residence near beautiful Christopher Lake Saskatchewan.     The course objective is to give participants experience and knowledge to build a rammed earth residence in a hands on setting.

The course will cover:

  1. We just completed a five day workshop. It flew by and the weather cooperated, we all need a rest! So I'd say it was a success. That's two workshops under our belt now.

We hosted a day workshop for permaculture enthusiasts a couple weeks ago. We had fun with some very driven ladies and kids running around playing and pitching in.
We focused on the ramming process giving everyone a chance to tamp, ram and of course shovel. The 6' exterior wall turned out beautiful!!! Another one down. You can see some pictures in the post Mid July.

Today we said goodbye to a wonderful fellow from Michigan USA who spent 5 rammed earth filled days with us. Our goal in the 5 day workshop is to give people the most experience and knowledge possible so they leave feeling like they could tackle wall on their own by the end.
We spent the first couple of days ramming an interior wall, its the most rewarding part and usually the one people are most eager to experience. He got plenty of time on the rammer!!!
Next we were able to form, ram, and take down a 6' exterior wall, start to finish, great set of skills. To finish off Paul walked him through forming a window wall.
Everything went so smoothly that we were able to do all three types of forms, interior, exterior and window. Check out the pictures from July/Aug Workshop.
It was intense and hard work but we did it! Hope you are having a great time in Banff Shannon, best of luck to you building your home! Keep us posted.
