#rammedearth #rammedearthwall Southwest bedroom walls

We had set a goal of two big walls this last week and met that goal with great success :)

Here we are starting with nailing down the bottom boards. Getting good tools helps along every step :)

Then the end wall forms go up and the side panels, everything gets levelled then screwed in place.

Using the Bobcat to mix makes quick work of the pile.

  And here we go,,,,,,,,
  Over and over again :)
But it's so worth it.

Here we are preparing for the cap.

Always a good feeling to reach the top.

Up when the sparrows fart, to take the forms down.

Like opening presents  :)

We have the two window walls to ram then this bedroom will be officially #rammed.

Sweet!

#rammedearth first #interior wall #christopherlake #saskatchewan

This wall took the longest to form and the longest to ram thus far. But sure turned out nice!

Making sure everything is straight to begin with. Anchoring the bottom plates

Standing up the uprights that will be holding all the vertical boards in place.
Then the form Plywood goes into the frame. Brad nails are used to tack it together (air nailer)

Put the electrical boxes in while there is still room, Eeek getting narrow! Just about done.

Took a week and a half (as life gets in the way)
But there it is ready for material.

Here comes the first load :)
Threaded the other end of a pipe clamp pipe to make an extension for the tamper ;)
Ramming away,,,,,,,,,,,,

Time for a selfie? No silly, time for color!

Made it to the height of the electrical boxes then,,
The rain came for a little bit. Time for a break anyways.

One more lift Sweet!
Towelling the cap

The best part of building rammed earth is stripping the form.

Happy Happy, only 29 more walls to go. Palm face
This wall was quite a bit more work than we thought, but at least there is something to show for it. Something that is super cool, won't rot, blow away. Lots of people say that we're crazy for doing this, we could have a house like everyone else. That wouldn't require so much work, fuck that! Exercise your mind and your body. Hope you enjoyed this wall as much as we have.
;)

#rammedearth Bedroom #1 south wall

Well this is the last full wall for the South side of the house, Sweet!

Air nailing the mitres

Time for rebar

And insulation, the 2x4s are notched to hold the insulation while the material is thrown in.

Everything looks good. Better have some breakfast.

Charged and ready :)

Wet the base a little bit,

The non-colored first few lifts

Hand tamped, after the pneumatic tamper.

Some rebar, and more insulation. Now we get get to put some color in.

Blowing the joint out for the next sheet of form Plywood

Notice the double boards, to support the joint.

As you go the electrical conduit gets guided to the centre to the foam. So it's not in the way on the cap.

Lunch break,

Coming along, 4 feet to go

Adding just enough insulation to reach the cap.

There all done, sorry for the lack of pictures, but I was beat.

We have seen heaps of water bombers and military choppers as the forest fires are crazy right now
Cap turned out nice, not that anyone will see it, lol
So begins the take down, make sure All the screws are removed from the electrical boxes and any other bling.

It's the best part, to slowly expose the wall.

 :)

Seams look good.

Electrical boxes look good too.
Definitely happy with the seams.

And that concludes this wall. Sweetness
